Website Outage Alert & Enhancements to Online Bill Payment Procedures

Please be advised that due to regular website maintenance, our agent and customer portals will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Saturday, June 18, through 7 a.m. Monday, June 20 (EST). Thank you for your patience.
We would also like to advise you of some enhancements to our online payment option available to OneBeacon producers and policyholders. To ensure the protection of private information, beginning Wednesday, June 22, new and improved security measures will be implemented in the collection and storage of customer credit card and electronic banking information. This solution is provided through a new vendor partner and assures OneBeacon’s full compliance with PCI requirements. While there will be no functional change to the website’s “make a payment page,” there will be slight changes to its appearance. The main event is enhancing our security procedures in order to ensure our environment is fully protected against unlawful collection of privacy data.

Again, producers and policyholders will not experience any functional changes in processing their payments; the page will simply look a little different. Regardless, we wanted to ensure you were aware of this important change to our online premium payment procedures.

Expertise is a partnership: OneBeacon participates in PRIMA conference

As a specialty-focused company, we pride ourselves on our level of expertise across all of our various businesses. We believe that this know-how is carefully honed over years of experience and heightened through strong relationships with our producer partners and industry associations.

For this reason, OneBeacon Insurance Group endeavors to build partnerships with associations across all our specialty lines. In fact, last week representatives from our Government Risks team participated in the 32nd Annual Public Risk Management Association (PRIMA) Conference in Portland, Oregon. PRIMA is a prominent resource in the Government Risks market and provides educational programming, risk resources and networking opportunities for public sector risk managers.

OneBeacon Government Risks (OBGR) exhibited at the conference’s trade show- displaying OneBeacon’s new trade booth for the first time- as well as contributed an educational session to the conference agenda.  Dennis Molenaar, Vice President of Risk Control for OBGR, led a session called, “Five Hot Issues in Law Enforcement Liability”. The session discussed the emergence of DNA testing, increasing use of social media by law enforcement and covered best practices for reducing liabilities of areas in law enforcement most likely to result in litigation.

Expertise, one underwriter at a time

At OneBeacon, we believe that our expertise sets us apart in the marketplace. So we get pretty excited when our peers recognize us for that very special capability. Recently, Paige Stiefel, a Senior Underwriter in our Technology Insurance business was honored as Insurance Professional of the Year by the Nashville, Tenn. Insurance Professionals and the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW). Way to go, Paige!

Each year, this award recognizes someone who has contributed to our industry through education, creation of industry alliances and/or legislative activity. As this year’s award recipient, Paige is now a candidate for the Tennessee Insurance Professional of the Year award that will be announced in October during the Insurance Professional Association’s state meeting.

Besides her role at OneBeacon, Paige serves as president-elect of the Nashville Insurance Professionals group and will be its president for the 2011-2012 term. She is also the Tennessee representative for the Young Professionals of NAIW.

We’re proud to have Paige on the OneBeacon team and hope she enjoys the recognition this honor represents.  Expertise, one underwriter at a time!

Happy Anniversary, OneBeacon!

Today we are all celebrating. And no, not because summer is finally here (although we’re pretty happy about that, too!). Ten years ago today, White Mountains Insurance Group bought the former CGNU’s U.S. property-casualty operations and renamed the company OneBeacon. The OneBeacon name was the result of a contest: three employees submitted the winning entry “OneBeacon,” reflecting the address of our longtime corporate headquarters or as more affectionately known, our “home office.”

Today, we’re a reinvigorated, specialty insurance company, excited about our future and proud of our past accomplishments. Join us in acknowledging this happy milestone. Happy tenth anniversary to everyone in the OneBeacon family—and here’s to many more!
