Our 14 interns will be working in the Actuarial, Audit, Finance, IT, Underwriting and Business Development fields alongside our teams of experts. Additionally, we’re welcoming four new grads to join our Actuarial and Underwriting teams full-time. We look forward to working with them and being a part of their career development. Accident & Health Supports ATA’s #ThankATrucker Campaign

OneBeacon Accident & Health is proud to support truckers and their hard work and dedication through COVID-19. They’ve continued to show determination in their day-to-day, and OneBeacon is proud to stand by their side. That’s why the Accident & Health division partnered with the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund to support the community through the #ThankATrucker Campaign.

Lori Cernera, President of A&H, alongside members of the team from their homes created a video thanking our highway heroes. Read the full release to learn more about the industry initiative.

How our teams are staying connected

It’s week five of working from home, and teams across the organization are continuing to get creative with ways to staying connected. Whether it’s setting up weekly video calls or playing guessing games via email, it’s encouraging and fun to see colleagues stay in touch with one another. Here are just some examples we’ve seen so far!

At the beginning of each month, the one of our teams meets outside of the office for a rejuvenation walk. To keep the tradition going, they went on their own walks around their neighborhoods along with their at-home colleagues. Check out the photos below from their strolls with their home team.

Various photo sharing activities are among some of the more popular ways teams are staying connected. Our Financial Services team played “Whose Workstation is This?” where the team had to guess whose home work area it is. Now, they’ve moved on to “Whose Artwork is This?” and have asked members of the team to submit photos of a piece of artwork of any medium in their homes. Once the correct person is selected, they then give a background story of that piece.

Many of our offices have also hosted virtual happy hours and mid-day check-ins. Our Boston office every other week gets together for “media club” where office members meet to discuss recent shows they’ve watched, books they’ve read, etc.

It’s great to see teams collaborating in such creative ways. Virtual connections are the new normal, and we look forward to seeing more of these interactions.

2019 in Review: On the Road with Specialty Health

It’s been a busy 2019 for our Specialty Health team! Christy Vago, Julie Bobak and team traveled around the country attending industry conferences, conventions and participated in speaking engagements. They collaborated these efforts with key business partners and industry professionals, such as Health Rosetta, to participate in discussions around healthcare trends. The team also got together with one another regularly throughout the year to reflect on their accomplishments thus far. As we close the door on 2019, the team is looking forward to a successful 2020. Financial Services Meets in Music City

OneBeacon Financial Services recently held their annual all-team meeting down in Nashville, Tennessee to look at the year ahead, and reflect on their 2019 accomplishments. The two-day meeting included presentations from the specialty and P&C underwriting teams, in addition to hearing from key business partners. It was also a great forum for open discussion around industry trends and new business ideas.

Not only did they say goodbye 2019, but they bid farewell to a long-time colleague and friend, Keith Fruechte. To celebrate his retirement, the team made their way to downtown Nashville for dinner, and caught a show at the historic Grand Ole Opry, where country artists such as Rascal Flatts performed. It’s not a goodbye, but a see you later and best of luck to Keith!
