Our hearts are broken over last week’s events, which took place not far from our U.S. corporate offices. The frustration and anger that George Floyd’s death has sparked is sadly all too familiar. We encourage everyone to dig deep and use the passion of this moment to consider how we can help address racism. Our corporate values include behaving with integrity, fairness and kindness, and respecting the diversity of our community. We stand united with the black community and committed to living our values and helping make a difference where we live and work. Let’s start the conversations, consider and accelerate change, and not disappoint the memory of George Floyd.
OneBeacon Accident & Health is proud to support truckers and their hard work and dedication through COVID-19. They’ve continued to show determination in their day-to-day, and OneBeacon is proud to stand by their side. That’s why the Accident & Health division partnered with the American Trucking Associations (ATA) and the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund to support the community through the #ThankATrucker Campaign.
Many of our employees, customers and partners are undergoing a period of adjustment as they settle into new routines. Working from home, social distancing navigating a new normal. On top of this, we know there is an added level of complexity for parents who are working and simultaneously caring for children at home while daycares and schools are closed.
The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) is hoping to help! They have developed an online resource aimed at supplementing children’s literacy activities while they are at home or remote learning.
Developed in partnership with Sesame Workshop, Every Day is a Reading and Writing Day is a free, bilingual and research-based multimedia program that leverages the beloved Sesame Street characters to reach and motivate young children, their families and caregivers to make the most of everyday opportunities to talk, read and write together.
