The Delta Queen, an American sternwheel steamboat and a U.S. National Historic Landmark, set sail last week for New Orleans to undergo refurbishment. The ship, insured by International Marine Underwriters, has an extensive history dating back to 1924, but has spent the last 6 years docked in Chattanooga, Tennessee serving as a floating boutique hotel. When the ship recently came under new ownership, it was announced that the Delta Queen would be refurbished back to her original glory and once more act as an operational cruising ship in 2016. We wish the ship and crew a safe journey as she makes her way down the Tennessee River.
