Northeast Offices Closed February 9

Due to a winter storm expected to hit the Northeast on Thursday, several OneBeacon offices will be closed on  February 9 including:

  • Connecticut- Farmington
  • Massachusetts- Boston, Canton and Quincy
  • New Jersey- Holmdel and Morristown
  • New York- New York City
  • Pennsylvania- Blue Bell

Those employees able to work from home should be reachable by phone and email. All offices are anticipated to be open for business as usual on Friday, February 10.

OneBeacon’s Stacy Paquet a Panelist at the PLUS Conference

This year, the PLUS Conference is back in Chicago, taking place from November 9-11.

Later today, Stacy Paquet, President, OneBeacon Management Liability, will participate in a panel discussion titled, “Are Management Liability Exposures for Law Firms Changing?” The group will discuss the exposures that exist for firm management, including executive committees and general counsels, and how they impact management liability programs.

The PLUS Conference is considered a destination event for professional liability insurance professionals to learn and network.

Managing the Risk Before a False Claims Act Claim is Made Against You

The False Claim Act (FCA) is the primary means to fight fraud perpetrated against the government. The FCA imposes civil and criminal liability for knowingly making a false or fraudulent claim to the United States for money or property; or to avoid an obligation to pay money (reverse false claim). 31 U.S.C. §§ 3279-3733.

FCA claims have been on the rise as the government, in collaboration with other governmental agencies, continues to crack down on fraud, waste and abuse in order to protect valuable taxpayers’ dollars. Thus, the key is to be proactive in managing the risk before an FCA claim is made against you.

OneBeacon’s Luca and Paquet at the D&O ExecuSummit

The 12th Annual Directors and Officers Liability Insurance ExecuSummit is taking place this week in Uncasville, CT, and OneBeacon experts are there.

This ExecuSummit is an educational event specifically designed for directors and officers liability insurance professionals. It offers those who are on the forefront of the D&O insurance industry insights to essential intelligence surrounding the intricacies of this product. Attendees will obtain a unique perspective and the ability to see patters and trends emerge.

OneBeacon Financial Institutions’ Chris Luca is a co-chair of the event, and will participate on a panel titled, “Developments in Private Investment Fund Coverage and Litigation.” OneBeacon Management Liability’s Stacy Paquet is part of a session titled, “Private Company D&O/EPL/Fiduciary Underwriting Issues and Claims.”

 

 

OneBeacon Welcomes John Iannotti as President of Professional Liability

We are very pleased to announce that John Iannotti has joined OneBeacon as President of Professional Liability reporting to Dennis Crosby. In this new role, he will oversee OneBeacon Design Professionals, OneBeacon Financial Services and OneBeacon Management Liability, with Bruce Demeter, Craig Collins and Stacy Paquet, who lead those businesses, as direct reports.

John brings nearly 25 years of specialty insurance experience, including 20 years focused on management and professional liability business. Most recently he served as Senior Vice President at Everest National, where he oversaw professional liability since 2009. Previously he spent 15 years in roles of increasing responsibility at American International Group and he began his career in private legal practice.
